Whole pears, perfectly poached in a ginger or vanilla syrup, looking pretty as a picture when served. I love the combination of sweet pears and spicy ginger, but I appreciate not everyone’s a fan, so I have also done a variation with vanilla. I love that these pears stay firm even when cooked (I promised no mushy food!) and also won’t discolour at all, even after days in the fridge. So, make a batch on the weekend and they’ll get you through breakfasts (and dessert!) for the week.
