Making your festive season easier.
Did you know, you can make your Christmas puddings NOW?! And simply store in the fridge until the big day? That'll take just a tiny bit of the pressure off! You know what else will take the pressure off? The fact that you can actually cook your puddings in the slow cooker rather than boiling for hours on the stove!
First step - make a batch of your favourite Christmas pudding mixture. If you’ve got a Thermomix or thermo cooker, check out our rich-and-dark pudding recipe (using all the traditional ingredients), turn to page 178 in Quick Fix in the Thermomix. For our lighter recipe, turn to page 291 in Quick Fix Every Occasion, and for our vegan Christmas puddings, you can check out the free recipe here! Of course, you can use your family-favourite mixture also! Whip it up by hand or in a food processor.
Next - decide if you want to make one (or two!) medium-sized puddings in our 1L pudding steamer (pictured above), lots of little individual ones in our mini pudding steamers (so cute and easy to serve!), or one extra-large Christmas pudding in our 2L pudding steamer! In my option, the 2L pudding steamer is the easiest option for feeding the Christmas crowd 😉
1L Pudding Steamer Instructions (for the slow cooker):
Lightly grease your 1L pudding steamer using olive oil, then fill with your favourite Christmas pudding mixture. Lock on lid. Give it a couple of bangs on the bench to release any air bubbles. Place inside slow cooker, then add water until the pudding basin is two-thirds submerged. Place lid on slow cooker and cook for 4 hours on high. Turn out your pudding and voila!
Mini Pudding Steamer Instructions (for the slow cooker):
Fill 8 lightly greased mini pudding steamers with your favourite Christmas pudding mixture, leaving 1cm space from the top. Lock on lids. Place inside slow cooker, then add water until the pudding basin is two-thirds submerged. Place lid on slow cooker and cook for 3 hours on high. Turn out your pudding and voila!
2L Pudding Steamer Instructions (for the slow cooker):
Lightly grease your 2L pudding steamer using olive oil, then fill with your favourite Christmas pudding mixture. Lock on lid. Give it a couple of bangs on the bench to release any air bubbles. Place inside slow cooker, then add water until the pudding basin is two-thirds submerged. Place lid on slow cooker and cook for 6 hours on high. Turn out your pudding and voila!
